Catskills House

A modern Catskills house designed by
Gabriel Piedrahita founder of Volarch,
a design studio in the Catskills Region. 

When building this house his vision
was to build a modern home that responds to
our times and lifestyles, also sustainable.
To keep this project under budget using the most
modern systems and technology available without
loosing their ideals was a priority.

A sustainable approach of having a small foot print
in this 5 acres lot.
A mountain retreat just 20 minutes from Woodstock

2 hours from New York, 3.5 Hours from Boston,
and 4 hours from Montreal.

The loft feeling of the connected spaces that
embrace social interaccion enhanced by its openess

The location of the house in the North-South axis
having all the windows on the East South and West
facades to enjoy the best solar exposure to gain
Natural light and warm the interiors lowering
heating costs.

The second floor with their corridor open to the
dining room in the lower level embracing comunication.

A metal railing as a design feature in all floors

An entrance that opens up to an
transitory space drenched by natural
light and connected to the main open floor. 

Open spaces with bamboo floors, radiant heat and
8 foot double pane windows and doors to embrace
the outdoors all year round.

A healthy space were natural light is
everywhere.
